Pause a client on a date, and see when it was paused

Devon Bate, Founder & CEO at SEO Brothers Devon Bate · August 18, 2026

Pausing a client now leaves a record, can be scheduled, and keeps delivering work that was owed. Locations suggest Business Profiles you already manage, and Google data links minutes after activation.

Two threads today: what happens when a client pauses, and how fast Google data arrives when one starts.

For our partners

  1. Inactive is the paused state, and it is now visible and recallable. Every pause, reactivation, archive and restore writes a line in the client’s activity, and a pause can be set for a date.
  2. Work you were owed keeps coming: a task due before the pause date still gets delivered, everything after it freezes with the client, and tasks on a paused client say so when you open them.
  3. The Locations page now suggests Business Profiles that a connected Google account already manages and that match the client’s website, with a one-click add.
  4. Analytics and Search Console now link within minutes of activation rather than waiting for the overnight refresh.

1. Pausing a client

“When did this pause, for how long, and who did it” has an answer. The Deactivate dialog offers Now or On a date; a dated pause happens on its own that day, exactly as if someone had clicked it. Every page of a paused client carries a banner with the date and a Reactivate button, and a scheduled pause shows with a Cancel.

3. Suggested Business Profiles

Suggestions only, never automatic: one website can front locations the client did not hire you for.

Behind the scenes

  1. Every client gets a business profile classification (service area, ecommerce, and so on) at discovery submission and again at activation if it is still missing. That profile decides which setup steps appear, including the Business Profile steps.
  2. The overnight Google linking now connects accounts first and syncs Business Profiles after, and a profile whose data keeps failing is set aside for a week.
  3. New campaigns are matched to link networks at activation, so the first link placement has its network from day one.
  4. Team members who were added but never signed in can be sent a branded set-your-password email, once.
  5. We wrote down how we test agents: run against a real campaign, read the whole transcript, fix between reps.
