Every rank cell says what it knows

Devon Bate, Founder & CEO at SEO Brothers Devon Bate · September 10, 2026

The Keywords page names each rank state instead of one catch-all, reports gain two more trend switches, and the branded WordPress plugin gets a share link. Agents read real server response time before recommending speed work and must open a page before writing a task about it.

A Thursday split between the Sessions and Keywords pages and a long pass on how agents read a website.

For our partners

  1. On the Keywords page, a rank cell names its state instead of collapsing everything into Not in top 100.
  2. Reports gain two more switches under Website and Business Profile: hide the six-month trend chart itself, or hide only the dashed year-prior line on it.
  3. The WordPress Plugin tab gains a share link that always serves your current branded build, and the plugin now updates from a neutral service address that carries no agency’s name.
  4. Tasks our side cancelled as triage no longer appear in your task list or activity; a cancel made by your own team still does.

1. Rank states

The states are checked with a date, an older check with its date, awaiting first check, tracking not started, tracking paused.

2. Trend switches

Both came from a partner who sent a screenshot while reviewing the report.

Behind the scenes

  1. Our site-wide optimization agent had been recommending caching and hosting work built on the wrong number. The crawler now records the server’s answer time only when it reached the server directly.
  2. Agents read pages properly now: an outline first, and no task about a page they have not opened live in that sitting.
  3. Agents know what a connected site actually runs: WordPress and PHP versions, theme, SEO plugin, caching.
  4. Search Console auto-linking picks the property that covers exactly the campaign’s site, so franchise campaigns on a shared domain no longer land on another territory’s property.

1. Server answer time

The crawler’s response time was how long the whole page took to arrive, not how long the server took to answer. The speed check grades the server’s answer time in bands, and it no longer counts toward the technical score.

2. Reading a page

The outline is the headings, every link with its text and where it sits on the page, images with their alt text, canonical, robots and schema types. The live-read rule came from one agent that had ordered links from two posts that already carried them, working from an earlier crawl.
